-
Where do we meet on the day?For this, and answers to other questions regarding the session visit greenwaysforestschool.com/session-information and select the location your child is attending
-
Are all staff DBS checked?Every member of the Greenways team will have an enhanced DBS check before they can join any of our sessions.
-
Are the team first aid trained? In every Greenways session there will be a member of the team with a relevant Outdoor Paediatric First Aid certificate
-
Do parents join the sessions? Our Saturday sessions are drop-off sessions. Children get much more out of the sessions when parents aren't around. A main aim of Forest Schooling is to foster independence and self-belief in its attendees. We've written a blog post here to help explain a little more about it and ways you can make this transition easier. So go and grab a coffee, have a wander, and let your children become the strong independent learners they can be!
-
Why such a broad age group? This is part of the magic! Over the years we have found that in these mixed-age groups, the younger children benefit greatly from seeing the way the slightly older children tackle challenges, and the older children benefit from being teachers and role-models to the younger children!
-
Why might a session be cancelled? We will have to cancel a session if: - We have insufficient staff to sustain the legal adult/child ratios - We have insufficient qualified Level 3 Forest School Leaders to run the sessions, as per our contract with the council and our insurance - There is 'extreme weather' and it is unsafe to be outside In these instances your session will be transferred to a future session of your choosing, free of charge!
-
Does my child need to bring a snack?Nope. We provide a snack. Every session your child will be offered fruit, rice/oat cake, and water.
-
Does Greenways run all year round?Yes! Rain or shine we'll be out in the forest. We do have a little break for Christmas, though.
-
Does my child need to be toilet trained?Yes. We do not have nappy changing facilities in the forest.
